United Methodist Men’s Annual Report for 2016
President George Groves

2016 was a great year for NICUMM, as they have reached out in mission and helped others to know and grow in Christ. The new quadrennial led to a change in leadership of the Northern Illinois Conference United Methodist Men with a newly elected President, Vice President, Treasurer and one new District President. The NICUMM men continue to develop Executive Committees in each District. Our Spiritual Congress, Upper Room Prayer Ministry and our mission efforts continue to be focal points for our men. By encouraging men to become engaged as leaders in our churches, we hope to equip men, who have a heart for ministry, to develop disciples for Jesus Christ. Mark Lubbock, National Men’s Ministry Speaker and Trainer, was our guest speaker at Spiritual Congress. Disciple Bible Outreach Ministries continues to be a focal point for both Illinois Great River Conference and our Northern Illinois Conference UMM. The Class Meetings were also supported for the men in our conference. The Conference is working on materials for our endowment fund with the foundation. This will generate more funding for mission work.

District Activities are reaching men for Christ. Some of our 2016 highlights common in all districts are:

Chicago Northwestern District: President Leon Deloney

Chicago Southern District: President Dr. Donald Linder

Aurora District: President Herb John

Elgin District: Vice President, Jim Nelson (President - Open)

De Kalb District: President, Scott Brooks (Also Conference Prayer Advocate)

Rockford District: President Dave Holland

The NICUMM would like to thank Steve Nailor, Conference President (2006-2016) for his years of service and leadership to our UMM. We would also like to celebrate that in 2016 Steve was elected the National President for United Methodist Men, where he will continue his ministry on a national level, as well as, continue to support leadership in our conference.

United Methodist Men’s Annual Report for 2011

Steve Nailor, President

The Conference UMM continues to witness, grow spiritually, and make a difference in other’s lives. We continue to develop our website. Members of the conference and, particularly our United Methodist Men, make a difference for others.

Men are growing in Christ, so others can know Christ and develop Men’s groups as we endeavor to strengthen our charters and EMS (Evangelism, Mission, and Spirituality). The Spiritual Congress touched on Men’s Spiritual Formation and how important that is in their daily lives. Jerry Haas, Dr. Norval Brown, and Rich Rubietta were the leaders.

Wardell Boyd, Conference Prayer Advocate and Steve Nailor attended the NACP meeting in Nashville and presented the Upper Room Prayer Ministry with a check for $1000. This vital ministry helps support the Upper Room prayer line that reaches thousands of individuals and families each year.

Strength for Service devotional project was a huge success. We raised $7251.00 and provided 1200 Strength for Service Devotionals and 216 Faith Sharing New Testaments for our Military Men and Women in cooperation with the Blue Star Mothers of America.
